au where absolutely nobody makes it to the bottomless canyon on time (or didn’t even show up at all) and corrin has to make their way through valla with just the people recruited before then.
fight anankos with 2 out of 5 divine weapons, 5 out of 9 siblings, and the yato can’t even reach full power.
on the bright side, scarlet gets to live.
i keep thinking about this and, like, even if they manage to pull off a win against anankos and all his undead lackeys and gunter… that doesn’t? end the war?
if xander and ryoma don’t declare a truce, that means the war is still ongoing outside of valla. and then camilla and elise on nohr’s side and sakura and takumi on hoshido’s side have to convince their brothers to declare a ceasefire. that is easier said than done since ‘this war was actually the decades-long machination of a mad god in an effort to get humanity to destroy itself’ sounds kind of. insane.
i think azura still succumbs to the song’s curse. had to push herself to her limits to make up for the missing divine weapons. so she’s dead.
and everyone hates corrin except for the few people that followed them.
almost everyone that did follow corrin is horribly injured and probably some are dead. gunter betrayed them, too.
and corrin and takumi had to do the lion’s share of fighting against anankos bc they’re the only two with divine weapons, so they’ve probably massively overextended themselves and therefore have it worse than everyone else.
i know saizo and kagero join before ryoma in rev but within the context of this au, we’re ignoring that. it makes more sense to me that way.

i think, after leaving valla, they head to neutral territory like port dia or izumo and they all just. pass out.
how the end of this au played out would really depend on a lot on why the other siblings never made it to the bottomless canyon
also elise and camilla gotta tell their brothers that their dad got eaten by a dragon. in front of them.
it’s way more Dramatique to roll with ‘corrin is a traitor and so is anyone who sides with them’ and then that leaves me wondering where to go with the ending.
i think the Corrin Crew just hangs out in izumo (which is willing to take them because izana supported corrin) while sending very tense messages back and forth to the rest of the two families and everyone tries not to scream.
elise tries to leverage her status as the Baby against xander and leo and guilt-trip them with the fact that she’s now friends with sakura. takumi has to first send ryoma a five-page letter explaining why he, of all people, took corrin’s side and that, no, he is not brainwashed, thanks. (ryoma still kind of thinks he’s been brainwashed)
valla reconstruction wouldn’t even be a thing bc nohr and hoshido don’t donate land to build the new valla. unless they try to build a new valla in the actual ruins of the old valla.
also @airlock pointed out that, even if xander and ryoma do take the mad god thing as truth, that can just mean “now whoever wins the war actually wins for real.” xander and ryoma never really get the chance to learn to get along in this au, after all.
I’m thinking about this again.
Specifically the idea that they do rebuild in the ruins of Valla, just slowly pilfering victims of war away from both nations to build their own. The siblings that stuck with Corrin naturally want to go home but also that’d mean having to go back to war.
Since the tribes all allied with Corrin, they’re in contact with Valla but it takes a long time before Nohr and Hoshido are made aware of it. I think Leo and Hinoka just fall into the Bottomless Canyon or something and find their missing siblings there.
Odin and Laslow have to be losing their fucking minds, right? THEY know the murder god dragon is real, they met him! He’s kinda chill except for the murder part (but hey if they had a nickel for every hooded figure who’s split personalities with a big ol’ murder dragon god) but also they can’t do anything BUT ALSO ALSO SELENA??? IS THERE??? FIGHTING THE MURDER DRAGON GOD WITHOUT THEM????
On the bright side the Valla curse would have been broken so they can talk about it on the other hand that shit’s gonna get them branded as traitors if Xander and Leo are like, particularly paranoid and bitter
Oh, Odin and Laslow go insane when they realize that they just. Did not actually do the mission they came here for. And Selena’s pissed because she had to do the mission alone. Thanks, guys. (Ignore that she was only there because she followed Camilla.) It’s also difficult for all three of them to go home when they’ve got a one-use crystal and can’t all be in the same place due to Selena Isn’t Allowed In Nohr Anymore.
I think Selena came clean to Corrin and the others at some point but Odin and Laslow live in fear of getting executed if they say anything. Nobody can get mad at Selena about it by the time she confesses because Anankos is gone and they’re all considered traitors to their homelands, so who gives a shit anymore?
I think it’s something like a three-year skip between when the Corrin Crew initially fucks off to Valla after giving up on trying to talk their brothers into negotiating peace and when the others find out that this is where all the war refugees keep vanishing to.
actually another interesting angle would be putting it, like, 20 years later with a very tense peace between the nations
and it’s siegbert and shiro who find valla, which has been completely disconnected from hoshido and nohr this whole time.
Siegbert and Shiro are having the most insane day of their lives. They’re finding out about all new family lore that they only know about from rumors because their dads “don’t want to talk about it.” They’ve got new cousins and aunts and uncles!
Asugi didn’t even know Saizo had a brother because Kaze was declared dead to him years ago. Now, suddenly, there is an uncle and also a cousin. Soleil was vaguely aware of the missing friend who accompanied Laslow and Odin to Nohr but holy shit, this is so much more than she was expecting.
And all the Valla kids are also having a wild day because they’ve never gotten to meet people from outside Valla. The Vallites always leave to do their business with the outside world. After a while, the ceasefire was called (because the war was taking too much toll on both sides) so there were no more refugees to pull in. It’s been at least ten years since anyone new entered Valla.
